Beacon Rock Engagement Session ~ Stevenson, WA

Last winter I set out with these two lovebirds in search of a beautiful location for engagement photos before their late spring wedding. Shelby and Andrew were planning on getting married on the Washington side of the Columbia River Gorge in an outdoor wedding, so we wanted their engagement session to highlight the beauty of that area, too.

A couple of months before their session, I drove out east to explore some areas and get inspired. I started in Washougal, and just drove along the river, stopping at several parks and scenic viewpoints along the way, including Steamboat Landing (Washougal), St. Cloud Park (Skamania), and Beacon Rock State Park (Stevenson).

After showing my couples some images of the different options in that area, we ultimately decided to go with Beacon Rock State Park… and it did NOT disappoint!

We scheduled the session, and crossed our fingers that the weather would cooperate and we wouldn’t have to change anything based on snowy road conditions. Though…. deep down, I will admit, I was hoping for at least a little bit of snow! I was SO happy when I got out to the park that morning and found one little section of snow that we could play with!

I was also pretty stoked with the magnificent view that we had of Beacon Rock… and the opportunity to make it, and the surround mountain range, a backdrop for some romantic images!

Shelby and Andrew were married in May. Their wedding was on a private residence in Stevenson, and was absolutely beautiful! You will get to read more about that later! So stay tuned!
