From Beer To Bridal ~ Engagement Session ~ Vancouver, WA

It’s SO true that the simplest things have the power to connect us.

When it comes to meeting our partners, all it takes is one common interest or shared hobby that can make all the difference and bring two people together. We’re living in a time where online dating is SO popular, and most of our connections begin online. If we don’t find a common interest and hit it off right away with our dating app matches, it’s so easy for things to fizzle out…

Lucky for us, though, the pacific northwest is FILLED with opportunities to connect! If you find out that you and your date have a shared love of nature, why not try to go hiking and create new memories together? Do you both have a favorite genre of music in common? Check out the local music scene in your area and see if you can find any shows that interest you two!

Or in the case of my clients, you can bond over beer! Yep, you heard me right… Beer!

When Samantha and Jon had their first date, it was over beers… and the rest is history! They continued to grow their relationship and made a point of visiting breweries together along the way. A shared interest between them ended up becoming a way to grow closer together, and look where they are now! Samantha and Jon got engaged and now have an upcoming wedding in April. This goes to show how powerful such a simple interest can be… They can truly say that beer brought them together!

Beer has played such an important part of their relationship that they requested to include a couple of pints in their engagement photography session! Their engagement session was scheduled for a beautiful sunny day, and we went to the backyard of Samantha’s mom for the session. When I saw the backyard, I was in AWE of how beautiful it was. I knew that all of the flowers, bushes, and trees would make a perfect backdrop for their session!

Once it was time to officially get started, Samantha and Jon each grabbed themselves some beer to be used as a prop in the photos… and also to be enjoyed! We started by taking some photos of them holding their beers while sitting on the porch. In these shots, I love that we could capture them smiling, laughing, and truly enjoying each other’s company. We then moved to the grass where Samantha and Jon sat in front of the flowers. The beautiful greenery along with the sun that was lighting up the shots made for a stunning backdrop! It truly was the PERFECT setting for an engagement photography session.

After we were done using the beers as props, Samantha and Jon stood up and tried out a few different poses. I LOVE the photo that features Jon dipping Samantha! It has such a playful, fun, and romantic feel to it. Then, we captured a few shots of them up close to highlight Samantha’s ring… It wouldn’t be an engagement session without a few photos of the engagement ring! Plus, in the close-up photos, it’s so clear to see how peaceful they look together and how in love they are.

Congratulations to Samantha and Jon! I’m unbelievably excited to be there to capture your wedding in April! After this engagement session, I can’t wait to be there to see you two get married and start the rest of your lives together. It’s incredible that beer brought you together as a couple… I hope that you both can keep enjoying beer and breweries as you continue to grow together!
