Second Time's The Charm ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA

If you take a look through my blog posts, you’ve probably seen tons of advice and tips when it comes to having your first boudoir session! I always want to make sure that you know what to expect during your experience, so I love to share tips, tricks, and behind-the-scenes looks at everything that goes on at my studio.

It’s not super often that I talk about what to expect during your second session, though…

By the time you’re stepping in the studio for the second time, you’re already familiar with me, my sets, and my hair and makeup team. Plus, you already know what to expect when you’re posing in front of the camera… You’re a veteran!

Because you’re a seasoned pro at this point, it won’t be super helpful to cover the things you already know, but there are few special things to consider when you’re coming back for another boudoir session… Today’s blog post will walk you through those extra tips that I have for my repeat clients!

My client recently booked her second boudoir session with me after having her first session at the end of 2022. She had such a fun time during her first experience that she booked a second boudoir session with me during my special Black Friday sale!

When clients are having their second session, I like to recommend that they bring in lingerie, shoes, and accessories that look different from the first set of outfits that were chosen. If you have a favorite pair of shoes or an accessory that you always love to wear, feel free to bring them with you for a second time… But overall, it’s much more fun to bring in clothing and lingerie that have a different look and feel to the first set of outfits you wore! When you look back on both of your sessions, you’ll have photos featuring all different types of looks, and it’s always fun to have some variety!

That’s exactly what my client planned for her repeat session! She let me know that she planned to bring in red shoes, a pink outfit, and some sheer tops. These outfits and accessories were definitely different than the first items she brought in! I’ve noticed that once clients have a session under their belt, the next set of outfits they bring in are a bit more bold… Once you’re feeling more confident about being in front of the camera, it makes sense to also bring in vibrant colors and types of looks that match the fearlessness you’re feeling.

During our second session together, we both agreed that it would be fun to try different areas around the studio! My client also wanted to make sure that we changed up the types of poses used in this session, and I agreed that it’s a must! Whenever you’re coming in for a second time, I make sure to look back at the types of poses and sets we used before. This helps me plan for the new session and make sure that we’re giving you a new experience and unique photos!

When talking to my client at the beginning of our session, I also noticed that she was feeling much more confident compared to her first time. After getting her hair and makeup done by Emily Filice, my client was ready to jump right in. For the first shots, my client started with her pink set and added her red shoes. We used the living room set, mirror, and chaise lounge for many of these photos! Her outfit was such a fun pop of color against the neutral backdrop.

For the later photos, my client switched into an outfit with black lace, and this is what she wore in many of the unique sets that we tried out! We took “under the sheets” photos along with some fun shots using the curtains. These photos came out looking so stunning and sensual. Finally, we tried out the shower set! My client’s black lace look worked perfectly with the style of the shower photos. When looking at the final black and white photos, not only are the pictures gorgeous… My client’s tattoos look amazing in these shots, too!

When it comes down to it, your second boudoir session is always so much fun! You’re feeling experienced, confident, and ready to have a good time. The main thing to keep in mind is variety! You’ll have these photos and memories forever, so it’s a great idea to switch up your looks and allow yourself to experience new sets and poses.

Thank you so much to my client for stepping in the studio with me again! We had an amazing time, and I can’t wait for your next session!
