Introduction to Photography
Learn how to use your manual settings (on your camera or cell phone!) to create beautiful, interesting images!
What You’ll Learn:
Week One:
We will start out with a class session dedicated to figuring out how to use your camera! What do the buttons do? How do we change the settings? We’ll explore the exposure triangle and learn some new vocabulary (aperture, f-stop, ISO, shutter speed, etc!)
Week Two:
Now that we know all about our exposure triangle, we’ll put it into practice! We’ll explore how to create and change the look and feel of images by adjusting your camera settings.
Week Three:
Next, we will talk about photography composition and how to use elements like lines, angles, colors, and focal points to create interest and emotion. We will start in-studio and possibly head outdoors as well!
Week Four:
To wrap up, we’ll spend this class period looking at photo editing and how (and why!) to make adjustments to your images in post-production. We will be using Lightroom as our software, but lessons learned can be applied with any editing software of your choice!
Camera with manual adjustments is required, however phone cameras (with manual adjustment settings) will also do the trick!
