An Empowering Encore ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA

Today’s blog post is such an inspiring one to write!

When I sit down to write boudoir posts, I take a look back through all of the finalized photos from our photography session, and it immediately takes me back to all of the conversations, thoughts, and feelings that were happening during the shoot…

On top of that, I’m reminded of the growth journey that all of my clients go through!

When clients come in for their first sessions, we capture exactly what they’re going through at that point in their lives. Those first pictures will always be a reminder of their mindsets at the time! It’s natural for our mindsets and life circumstances to change at least a bit over time, so if clients choose to come back for more sessions… there’s a guarantee that things will be different!

Plus, it’s so interesting to look back at earlier photography sessions and notice any smaller changes… like a personal style update or a fun change in hair color!

As I look back at my friend’s first session, I can see SO much growth. This is especially impressive because she even went through a ton of personal changes before her first visit to the studio! (At the time, she just got a new tattoo and had a ton of new travel experiences!) The changes haven’t stopped there… In just a year, she’s had even more personal growth and gained a new sense of independence.

Naturally, with all these updates, it was time for another photography session! My friend decided that a shoot was the perfect way to commemorate her new growth, and of course I was completely on board. She also asked me if a second boudoir session can truly be different from the first… As we’ve seen, there are endless possibilities when it comes to choosing boudoir styles, themes, and types of sets! I promised her that we’d create an entirely new feel with this set of photos. After all, it was important for us to create an empowering, updated vibe for this shoot that matched the changes she was seeing in her life.

On the day of her second session, my friend showed up to the studio with a wardrobe that was super different from the first outfits she chose. This time, she brought along jeans with a white top, black lingerie, and a matching red set, too. I loved that she thought to bring along jeans to a boudoir session! This casual, confident look matches her style in real life, and it’s a perfect outfit to bring along. Why? There are so many ways to take jeans with a basic top and give them a sensual, boudoir spin.

While we were in the living room set, we took some shots near the curtains. There, my friend wore her jeans, and this outfit looked awesome against the neutral backdrop! The simplicity of the background draws your eye right to my friend. She looks SO gorgeous in these softer, sensual shots. When reviewing these photos, so many of them looked striking in black and white… so that’s the route we went!

We then moved over to the bedroom set and used the satin green sheets! My friend’s matching set had such a nice contrast with the color of the sheets, and they photographed really well together. For the bedroom set shots, we especially made sure to try poses that were different from the positions we used the first time around. Finally, we tried out my new and improved rain room. Overall, these shots had such a different vibe compared to her first session! These newer photos really reflect where she’s at in life, and they came out looking incredible.

Looking back at these photos, above all… I’m so proud of my friend! She’s gone through so many changes, and she came out on top with a renewed sense of independence. I truly hope that this experience helped you feel empowered and ready to keep embracing all of the positive growth in your life.

Thank you SO much to my friend for spending another day with me in the studio. It’s been so fun to watch you grow!
