Boots On, Layers Off! ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA

Before we jump into this next post... Take a moment to think about your own personal style!

How would your personal style translate to a boudoir setting?

If you have a darker, alternative style, you can always add a strappy harness on top of your lingerie to make your boudoir look feel more personalized to you. Plus, you can consider a leather top or corset to really add a gothic feel.

If you have a retro style, you can add classic Mary Jane pumps that will complement modern lingerie pieces just as well as they complement a vintage look! To take your retro outfit to the next level, include a garter belt with stockings or even thrifted, antique jewelry.

No matter what your personal style is... there’s always a way to bring elements of your style into your boudoir session! I’m always happy to talk to my clients and help you decide which of the pieces in your closet would translate well to a photography shoot.

When my client booked a session with me and filled out her pre-session questionnaire, I learned that she has a country western style! After reading this, I started wondering what kinds of accessories she would want to bring! Maybe a cowboy hat? A fun fringe jacket?

Then, I read that she planned on wearing cowboy boots, cutoff denim shorts, and a flannel! Together, these items make a complete, sexy outfit that’s perfect for a boudoir session. The best part? Even when stripping down and dropping the clothing, the boots still make a stylish accessory that looks amazing in front of the camera! And my client proved it!

When originally booking her shoot, my client wanted a “Build Your Own” boudoir session... but then she decided that she wanted the full experience with different studio sets and outfits! This meant that my client would be photographed in multiple locations in my studio and switch outfits for each set, but she told me that she wanted to wear her cowboy boots through the majority of the shoot. When looking at her final photos, you’ll definitely be able to see that her boots were an amazing, versatile style choice.

On the day of my client’s session, she drove from about an hour away to work with me! She chose to have her hair and makeup done in studio, so Emily Filice joined us to create a look that would complement her country western style. Emily created soft, classic curls that looked amazing with my client’s blonde hair. Her makeup was neutral and left her with a radiant glow! Her hair and makeup were both simple yet gorgeous... allowing her beauty and personal style to shine.

When shooting in the bedroom set, my client wore all of her country items! And let me tell you... her boots looked especially amazing in the shots with her legs on the wall. They were sexy, playful, and truly the perfect accessory to bring to a boudoir shoot. Not to mention, the flannel and denim shorts paired perfectly with her black bralette. The full look she chose to wear was SO cohesive!

We also shot in front of a solid black backdrop, and rose petals were thrown in the mix. Again, the boots were a stylish accessory that looked great with her lingerie set and equally as amazing in the implied nude shots! Because these shots were stripped back with the plain backdrop and black sheets, the boots really stood out and showed her personality.

In the living room set, my client chose to leave the boots off and put on a lacy bodysuit. The shots of her sitting in the window seat really highlight her silhouette, and she looks stunning!
