What is the BEST Time of Year for Business Branding Photos? ~ Vancouver, WA

The answer to this question is…

It depends!

Really helpful, huh? lol I’m going to go into more details below, but the best time to schedule your business branding photography session really depends on your business and your goals for the images. Read below for the seasonal breakdowns!

(And just a note… I can book out up to 12-months in advance AND offer pre-session payment plans. So if you’re reading this in the summer, and know that you want photos in the spring, we can still get your booking scheduled and get the ball rolling!)

  1. Summer

    • Since we are just starting the summer season, I’ll start there! Summer is a great time to have your business branding photography session if:

      • Your business season is in the fall/winter. Let’s say, for instance, that you are a maker who specializes in custom holiday decor. If you are wanting to start your marketing push in September, then having photos taken in June and July will allow time for your photographer to edit/deliver your images, as well as time for you to create your marketing graphics and e-mail campaigns!

      • Your service-based business is busiest in the summer months and you want photos of your clients enjoying your offerings! Let’s say you own a wedding venue, organize weekend markets, or are a white water rafting guide and you want “Behind the Scenes” shots of you doing what you do. When “what you do” happens the most in the summer months it kind of seems like an obvious time to schedule your photos, huh? =)

  2. Fall

    • From a personal prospective, summer can be a really busy time for small business owners who are also parents and/or enjoy traveling and taking advantage of the beautiful PNW during the warm months. Often summer schedules fill up fast with personal activities, so fall may be a better time to schedule your photos. Especially if:

      • Your work happens outdoors. We all know that the weather in the PNW can be a toss up, but (in my opinion) the BEST time for outdoor photo sessions is mid-September through October when the temp is mild, and the weather is less wet. Those who own landscaping, construction, dog walking, and other “outdoor” businesses might prefer sessions in the fall.

      • Your brand identity aligns with the vibrant colors, “witchy”/natural vibe, and/or cozy feeling of the fall. Maybe you own a shop that specializes in the supernatural/occult supplies, or maybe your business is a nature-themed coffee shop… or maybe your brand colors are red, yellow, and orange! Whatever the case may be, if the “look” of the PNW in the fall fits your vibe, then photos in October might be best for your branding!

  3. Winter

    • For many, the winter months are slow…. which may be the best time to update your branding images and your marketing materials! Plan your business branding photography session for the winter if:

      • Your slow season is December-February and you have some down time to focus on prep and planning for the upcoming year.

      • Your business happens primarily indoors and is not dependent on the weather. If you own a restaurant, bar, or bakery, or are a studio photographer/artist, or offer professional services like dentistry, accounting, graphic design, etc, winter could be a great time to get a photographer in for some behind the scenes images of you and your team at work!

  4. Spring

    • Weather in the spring in the PNW can be anyone’s guess… it could be gorgeous, or flooding. Who knows?! lol Your may consider booking a spring branding session if:

      • You want studio images. My studio is open year-round and the weather doesn’t phase me! Maybe you are wanting some standardized headshots for your team, minimalistic branding images, or product shots on a solid backdrop. My studio is perfect for this.

      • You work with florals, greenery, and landscaping and your products are literally “in bloom” in the spring! If what you do is about the flowering, green landscapes that the PNW boasts in April and May, then, OF COURSE you want photos done in the spring!

Of course, this is not a comprehensive breakdown and a “reason” for one season may actually be YOUR reason for a different season… but the point is that the best time to schedule your photos is fully dependent on YOU —your schedule, your goals, your business, your brand, your needs!
