Ice Cream Renaissance ~ Vancouver, WA ~ Commercial Lifestyle Photography Session

Ever since I started capturing brand story sessions all over Vancouver, Washington and Portland, Oregon... I've made it my priority to focus on business owners and give an exclusive "behind-the-scenes" look at the work they do. Some of the final images I deliver are business owner headshots, the owner or team hard at work, details of the business's workspace, and product photos.

These types of shots give customers a good idea of what to expect from your offerings and products, but I recently realized that I can take things a step further...

In April of this year, I attended Shutterfest! Shutterfest is a photography conference that's held in St. Louis, and I wrote about my experience as an attendee. After coming home from this conference, I was SO inspired creatively, and I also realized I could be adding to the types of branding services I offer.

On top of my brand story sessions, I decided to offer commercial lifestyle campaigns for clients!

Unlike my typical brand story shoots, commercial lifestyle sessions focus on the impact that your product or service has on others. Often, you'll see these types of photos used in national marketing campaigns. As an example, think of your favorite makeup brand and how they capture new products they're launching... Many times, you'll see people just like you who are using the new item and loving it! This is what commercial lifestyle shoots are all about. There's more of a focus on people using the brand and less of a focus on the people behind the brand.

When I got home from Shutterfest, I was determined to capture my first commercial lifestyle session and knew I wanted to coordinate a "model call" of sorts. I ended up reaching out to the owner of Ice Cream Renaissance who recently purchased a local ice cream shop in Vancouver, Washington with her husband. After talking, the Wiley family agreed to work with me!

While preparing for the shoot, I learned that Ice Cream Renaissance opened in 2001, and at that time, it was the first small-batch, homemade ice cream shop in the area… And they’ve only grown from there! Today, they’re serving up dairy-free and gluten-free options and also sourcing ingredients from other businesses in the Vancouver area, which we love to see. If you haven’t had a chance to stop in and check them out yet… here’s a menu that you can check out before enjoying a yummy sundae or new ice cream flavor!

On the day of the session, I brought in a family of three models who were ready to try out the ice cream while being photographed around the shop. The goal was to capture how tasty the product was by showing the family having fun while enjoying their sweet treats... and I would say we definitely accomplished that! All three of them were having a blast while eating together.

While I was inside, I also made sure to snap some shots of the ice cream being scooped, the shop itself, and the Ice Cream Renaissance logo. These are the types of images I would normally capture during a brand story session, but I made it a priority to take them during this commercial lifestyle shoot, too.

Thank you SO much to Ice Cream Renaissance and my models for working with me to bring this session to life! Now, I'm able to showcase commercial lifestyle campaigns as a new offering of mine, and I can't wait to shoot more of these sessions. If you own a business in the Vancouver, Washington or Portland, Oregon metro areas, I'd love to chat with you and see how I can serve your business.
