When it comes down to it, all of my photography sessions can be placed in one of two groups...

Category one contains sessions that focus on YOUR creative vision!

Many of the shoots that are booked by my photography clients fall into this group. For example... during a wedding, I'm focused on capturing your special day where you've curated all the creative details. And if there are unique shots you want me to capture (like candid shots of guests' fun outfits at your Halloween-themed wedding), I'm going to make it my priority to bring your vision to life!

On the other side of the coin... category two contains sessions that are centered around MY creative vision!

These sessions don't come around too often unless I intentionally schedule a "model call" in my studio. I'm sure you've read about some of my model calls (like this one and this one!) if you've been following Brittney Corey Photography for some time. What those two sessions and THIS one have in common is that they allow me to try new things creatively. Whenever I get to capture a different type of session that I don't usually get the chance to shoot, it's SO much fun to experiment and bring my creative vision to life.

Today's post just happens to fall into the second category... meaning that this session is one that I was super inspired to capture!

When I attended a photography conference (Shutterfest! I highly recommend it!) in April of this year, I walked away with a ton of inspiration. After attending different classes there, I realized that I wanted to focus my creative energy on fine art style artistic nudes when I got back home to Vancouver, Washington... so I did! I reached out to the amazing community in my boudoir Facebook group (which is a GREAT place to be if you want in on future model opportunities), and I was lucky to have several past clients express interest in this type of session. After picking someone, we started planning out the details!

My model for this shoot is a past client who I worked with many years ago... and she actually wrote about her boudoir experience! I reconnected with her at the Portland Bridal Show when she stopped by my booth with her family, and I'm SO happy she did. Once I learned that she went through some tough life changes recently, I knew that she'd really benefit from having an "updated" boudoir session.

When she came in for her session, I knew that I wanted to use light and shadows to sculpt her body... and I'd say we accomplished that! In the photos with the white backdrop, you can see her face pretty clearly, and these photos have a soft, sensual vibe to them. But once we moved to the black backdrop, I wanted to make sure that her face was somewhat hidden in shadow, creating a bit of mystery. While taking these "mysterious" photos, we played a lot with posing and silhouettes to give these images a fine art feel.

I'm SO appreciative of my model for spending the day with me in the studio... thank you a ton! I hope you love your updated boudoir photos and can look back at them with the same excitement you have for your first set of images.
