“Paper” One-Year Anniversary Gift Idea ~ Boudoir Photography, Vancouver, WA

The traditional one year anniversary gift is paper… what better way to honor that tradition than with an album of sexy, powerful boudoir photos? =D

I have a lot of clients who book sessions with me to create images for their significant other for special occasions (weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, etc.) and this was one of those sessions!

This beautiful woman booked her session with me several months in advance so that she could pay it off little by little and not arouse her partner’s suspicion and ruin the surprise! When it was finally time for her session, I was so excited to work with her and create something amazing together!

In her pre-session question and communication with me, it was OBVIOUS that this badass chick already had great self-confidence and love for her body. I knew that she was going to rock this session… and she did not disappoint! Her lingerie selections were amazing (I’m a fan of lace and interesting straps… they add so much texture and interest to the final images), and she strutted around my studio like she did this every day!

Like some women do, this client also chose to bring a friend with her for moral support. If you have a boudoir session booked with any photographer, and want to bring a friend, I recommend checking with them beforehand. Photographers have different policies on guests in their studio during sessions. For me, I allow platonic friends to be present, but romantic partners are not allowed. I know that some clients feel safer having someone with them for these types of sessions, and I definitely want to support them with that, but romantic partners can make things weird for both of us, and I’d prefer to focus entirely on my client and make my own connection with her!

Anyway, back to this session! Her images turned out amazing, and her album was gorgeous! She recently posted a comment in my private boudoir Facebook group about how comfortable she felt with me and how much she enjoyed her session. While I love that she loved my work, I feel even more grateful that I was able to help her feel beautiful, powerful, and comfortable expressing herself and her natural, physical beauty!

As I said at the beginning of this post… a lot of clients book sessions to create gifts for their partners… but, you know what? Here’s a little secret. Your boudoir session is a gift for YOU. Sure, the images are great for your special someone… but the experience, that all for YOU! <3

I was able to work with this client again recently for a shower session (yup! I have that options available now, too!). I’ll be posting more from that shoot later, once I catch up with my backlog of session recaps! SMH… I mean, this session took place in 2020… yeah… I’m THAT behind. lol But you can see a sneak peek or two from her session on my Instagram page in the mean time!
