A Boudoir Birthday Bash! ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA

Today's blog post is a VERY special one for me! I love when my boudoir clients start to become "regulars" and join me in the studio more than once. Not only do I get to know more about them as people, but I also get to walk alongside them and be supportive, no matter what they happen to be going through each time they book a session...

Some clients stop in the studio when they're having a hard time working through body image or self-confidence issues. In these moments, I'm honored to hold space for my clients and create an environment where they can learn to see the beauty in themselves. This is one of my favorite parts about being a boudoir photographer.

Other times, clients book a session with me when they're looking to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or even Valentine's Day. It's always fun to celebrate with them!

If I'm lucky enough for my boudoir clients to become "regulars," I see them through a lot of these struggles AND celebrations... Just like the client in today's post!

The first time I worked with her, my client wanted to take sultry photos that she could gift to her husband. He's a truck driver who's gone for longer periods of time, and being separated was difficult... so she thought that pictures would make a great present for him! Then, the second time I worked with her, she stopped in because she was able to grab a spot during my special Black Friday sale.

This time, she booked a shoot with me to celebrate her birthday! Luckily enough, my schedule was open for a boudoir session on her actual birthday, so that's the day we planned for. I feel like I've gotten to know her well, so that made me so much more excited to create an empowering, fun experience for her to have on her special day.

Before we knew it... the big day arrived! She stepped into the studio, I wished her a happy birthday, and Haley Alverson quickly got started with her hair and makeup. The final birthday look featured glowy skin, glam yet neutral eye makeup, and a matte lip color. This versatile look worked great with every single outfit she brought for the day.

First, she posed near the curtains in my living room set. The natural lighting in these shots lit up her face and made her look radiant! For this part of the session, she wore a blue sweater that brought out the stunning color of her eyes. Next, we moved over to the bedroom set. She switched into black lingerie and also had a red flannel... Both of these pieces looked great against the silver satin sheets.

Last but not least... it was time to try out my simple black backdrop and rose petals! While she posed (mostly on the ground during this part of the shoot!), I strategically dropped rose petals in front of the camera. I really wish you could see behind-the-scenes shots of us trying to capture magic with the rose petals. It can be SO tricky to do, but once we get a few shots that look like magic... it's all worth it!

Once the session was over, my amazing client went home and enjoyed a yummy birthday meal that was prepared by her daughter... I would call that an AMAZING birthday! In fact, you actually gave me some ideas for my own birthday plans this year! Thank you SO much for joining me in the studio again. I can't wait for our next session.
