All Things Witchy and Wild! ~ Boudoir Photography: Group Session ~ Vancouver, WA

Before we jump into today's post, I have a question for you... What do you get when you combine a group of powerful women, a stunning outdoor setting, and a whole lot of confidence?

If you put them all together... they become a recipe for the PERFECT group boudoir session!

And I'll tell you, outdoor group boudoir shoots are a ton of fun for everyone involved... even me! As a photographer, I have outdoor sessions pretty often (especially when it's wedding season), but it's not every day that I'm able to have boudoir sessions outside. I've organized outdoor boudoir shoots in the past, but they happen pretty rarely. Because of this, it feels VERY special when we're able to coordinate everyone involved, find the perfect shoot location, and make it happen... like we did here!

These types of sessions are also SO much fun for the models who join me! I usually bring along props that can be used during the shoot, and sometimes all of the props are themed… just like they were in this case!

Now you might be wondering... Why were the props all themed? We were having a Witchy Group Session!

The goal for this witchy shoot was to have some fall-themed fun with a magical (and sensual) twist! The session was scheduled for October 13th, so modeling for this session was also a wonderful way to get into the Halloween spirit. Not to mention, the event was held on gorgeous private property in Vancouver, Washington. The woodsy feel of the property made it a great backdrop for our witchy theme.

Everyone who participated in this shoot received individual AND group photography time along with a few digital images, and all participants could choose to add extra products a la carte. And trust me, after seeing the final images of themselves in their dark, witchy looks... my models were obsessed and also wanted some souvenirs to remember their experience by!

On the day of the session, one of my participants chose to have her hair and makeup done by Emily Filice. The final look included sultry, smokey eye shadow and a reddish lip shade that was perfect for the witchy vibe of the session! Emily also gave her curls that were just the right amount of defined yet windswept.

The group photos with all four of my models were SO fun to coordinate! I snapped shots that featured the group making a "witches' brew" with green smoke coming out of a cauldron, and the smoke was blowing everywhere. It was slightly challenging but also fun for the participants to work with the smoke while posing! We also took group photos with everybody holding a candle and embracing their inner witch. During this part of the session, we even took a photo with one of my models levitating! One of my favorite group shots included a spell book and a wand as props, and all of the models look empowered while spell casting.

When it was time to split up the group and take individual photos, we used many of the same props that were included in the group images. Each woman had the chance to use the smoky cauldron and candles in her solo shots! Plus, the wand could also be used individually, and I added a light at the end of the wand while editing... The edits definitely made it seem like my models were casting spells! In some of the other solo images, a small mirror was used for reflective shots.

After hearing more about this fun, empowering group session... What do you think? Would you ever book a group session for you and your closest friends?

If you'd love to have a group experience similar to this one, I'd be so excited to work with you and host a boudoir party. You and up to five of your friends can have a boudoir experience together, and if you have a specific vision or theme for your party... I'm all ears!
