How Long Does a Business Branding Photography Session Take? ~ Vancouver, WA
/How long your Business Branding photography session takes relies on a number of factors. Some are short, sweet, and to the point, others require a little more time and attention. Here’s a breakdown for you on things that could affect the timing of your branding session to help give you an idea of what to expect, and what to plan for!
1. You JUST Need an Updated Headshot
Occasionally you don’t need a full branding session, but just one or two updated headshots for your company website, LinkedIn, business cards, etc. If this is the case, I offer “done in a day” headshot sessions in my studio in east Vancouver. You’ll come in, spend about 10-15 minutes in front of my camera, and then we’ll take a look at your images, you’ll select your faves, and I’ll get those edited and sent your way right away (usually by the end of the working day, but definitely within one business day).
If you are hoping for “on location” headshots (either outdoors or in your business space) that’s a different beast and requires more time.
2. You Want a Standard Brand Story Session
My full Business Brand Story photography sessions usually last around 60-90 minutes. These (generally) occur in your workspace and can include a combination of headshots, behind the scenes images, product photos and/or detailed images of your office/workspace.
These are great for solo-prenuers or small team businesses who want a imagery that’s a general overview of their business and the services/products that they offer. The standard session is probably NOT a good fit for teams of more than 15 people if headshots are included in the photography plan.
3. You Have a Large Team, Special Event/Project, or Multi-Location Photography Needs
Occasionally I will receive an inquiry to photograph a company event (holiday party, open house, etc), full staff headshots for a large company, or business services with multiple locations to travel to. In this case, the duration of photography time needed is likely more than my standard hour. Time needed, though, is dependent on the specific needs of each job. After speaking to you about your hopes/needs for the photos, I’ll provide an estimate on photography time needed to assist with the scheduling/planning process.
4. Don’t Forget About Editing!
I’ve often heard photography compared to baking. Your photography session is simply the gathering of “ingredients”, the creation (“baking”) of the final product actually happens after your session during the editing process.
Editing and digital image turn around time varies based on the specifics of the job. My in-studio headshots are generally done within one business day, while my standard brand photography galleries are generally ready 5-10 business days after your session. A longer session, however, leads to more images to review/edit and, thus, a longer post-production period, so turn around time can be up to a month (very rarely this long unless you have a full day project for me).
When thinking about scheduling your branding session, you’ll want to take post-production time into account, especially if you have a “deadline” for when you need your images (such has a website launch, promo material printing deadline, etc.).
If you have any questions about how long to expect for your specific photo needs, reach out and ask! I’m happy to give you a rough estimate and/or schedule a time for a consultation to go over all of the details and get you on the calendar!
