Sweater Weather ~ Boudoir Photography: Model Session ~ Vancouver, WA

If I asked you to pick out a head-to-toe look for your boudoir session that is especially sexy... what clothing items and accessories would you bring with you to the studio?

After working with my boudoir clients for quite a few years... I have to say, I think I have a pretty good idea of which "sexy" items most women would choose for themselves!

Many clients would pick out a black lingerie set that has tons of intricate, lacy details. If we add in sleek heels, a red lip, and voluminous curls, too... we get a "classic" sexy look that's VERY popular.

While some women might prefer this "classic" style for their shoot, others may go with a look that's either a little more or a little less covered up. When choosing a "sexy" outfit that has a bit more coverage, many would pick a lace teddy... but if you want to show more skin, going nude (or just topless) for your session is also an option!

When it comes to you personally... No matter which "sexy" outfit you'd choose for yourself, I guarantee you didn't land on a sweater! A sweater is probably pretty low on the list of clothing items you'd typically think of when you imagine a boudoir look...

Sweaters are oversized, cozy, and comfortable... making them a perfect piece of clothing for chilly winter days. But what if they could also be "sexy" and used in a boudoir shoot?

This question is one of the main reasons why I wanted to host a "Sweater Weather" model call during the winter! Plus, I knew that I was due to take updated images that I could use on my website and in my marketing materials. I also LOVE that model sessions allow me to play around with new sets and poses. For all of these reasons, I was super excited to head into my session with this amazing model!

My model previously had an outdoor boudoir session with me, and that shoot really showcased her adventurous, outdoorsy side! Heading into this "Sweater Weather" studio session, she was excited to have photos with a warm, soft feel that captured a different side of her.

On the day of the session, Emily Filice worked on my model's hair and makeup, and she did an amazing job of creating a look that was glam yet perfect for a cozy shoot! My model's hair was curled into loose waves, and her eye makeup was neutral and gave her a subtle, warm glow. I snapped some behind-the-scenes shots of this process that you can see below... It was so fun to capture some of what goes on before a session actually begins!

Once the shoot started, I asked my model to pose in the living room set, and we got started near the window seat. Once she sat down, the light poured in from behind her, creating some moody shots! In these images, you can definitely tell that one side of her is much more illuminated than the other side, leaving us with shadows and contrast in the final photos. During this part of the session, she also grabbed a coffee mug as a prop... which ended up being perfectly on theme for our "Sweater Weather" shoot.

My model changed into a new outfit, and I captured her while she posed on the purple velvet couch. She brought in a dark bodysuit and gray sweater for this part of the session, and this look truly proved that "cozy" can also be "sexy."

I'm sending a BIG thank you to my model for joining me in the studio and helping me bring this "Sweater Weather" shoot to life! Now, when you look back at all of your boudoir photos, you have shots with two completely different vibes that highlight the different sides of who you are.
