A Timeless Anniversary Gift! ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA

Ever since opening my photography business in 2017, I've worked with so many different boudoir clients... and each woman has her own unique reason for booking a photography session with me.

Some clients end up scheduling for reasons that have to do entirely with themselves! Whether it's to gain more confidence, capture their bodies at a specific time in their lives (like during a pregnancy), or even to highlight their body art... I've had clients step in the studio for each of these reasons, and all of them are perfectly valid and wonderful.

Then, I have other clients who decide to book a session with their partner in mind. Even these women have unique reasons why they're choosing to gift their partner with this sensual surprise... and no two reasons are ever the same!

One client chose to take boudoir photos with me because her husband was a truck driver who was gone from home for long periods of time. After her session, she gifted him with her final images! And honestly, what better way is there to remind your partner of what's waiting for them at home?

Another one of my clients chose to have boudoir photos taken because she was in a long distance relationship. She thought it would be a new, fun way to increase intimacy with her partner while he's far away... and she was right! The boudoir photos were a hit and made them feel closer together despite any physical distance between them.

For today's post, we'll be highlighting a client who reached out to me to book a boudoir session, and she also had her partner in mind. In her case, though, she wanted to use her photos as a gift to him for their first anniversary! At the time of her shoot, she and her husband had just moved up to Portland from Colorado to start a life with their Great Dane... so this session was a way to celebrate how far they came since being married and also commemorate their journey together.

On the day of the session, Natalie Olson met us in the studio to do my client's makeup. Her final makeup look featured a darker, smoky eye look and a burgundy lip color which was a perfect match for the fiery session we were about to have!

We started shooting in the bedroom set, and my client chose to go with green satin sheets for the bed. During this part of the shoot, she wore a strappy, black lingerie set. The boldness of her outfit worked perfectly with the boldness of her makeup!

Then, we spent some time in the bathtub set. She changed into a white button-up shirt and also put on her husband's watch that she brought from home! Many times, clients bring in their partner's clothing to wear (like their jerseys or oversized shirts), but I don't see accessories from partners as often. As you can tell from the final images, bringing in the watch was a great decision, and it looks amazing alongside the simple white button-up!

Next, it was time to take some topless images. My client is outdoorsy and spends a TON of time adventuring outside, so she has tan lines. She wanted to show them off for her session because they highlight how much time she spends outside and have truly become a part of her!
