Behind the Boudoir: The Ultimate Model Call! ~ Boudoir Photography ~ Vancouver, WA

If you've checked out my blog posts before... You've probably noticed that sometimes I'll have model calls!

I'll have models stop in the studio if I want updated photos that highlight new sets I've created OR if I need marketing images to promote new a package that I'm offering.

Sometimes, I have a need for BOTH of these things... which means that I have to set up a multi-purpose model session (just like this one) to get the job done!

Today's post is ALL about my most recent model call! Like I mentioned, this day in the studio ended up having a few purposes... I realized that I wanted more photos taken in some of the newer sets of my studio, like my bathtub set and piano set. Clients use my living room set and bedroom set most often, and I don't always get to shoot new content in those two newer spaces... so why not dedicate a special day for this content?

Currently, I'm also booking sessions for my More Than a Mom photography project... and I definitely needed some new shots that I could use to promote the project! This project focuses on the hopes, dreams, and desires of women that exist alongside (but can sometimes get lost underneath!) our motherhood. The photos I plan to take for this project have more of a "fine art" feel and use solid backdrops... They look pretty different from the typical boudoir photos I take, so I also wanted my model to pose for some of these More Than a Mom shots!

As if I didn't already plan a full day in the studio... I also asked Sara Uhacz to spend the day with me to capture behind-the-scenes photos of me at work! I also knew I wanted behind-the-scenes photos of our HMUA and model during their full hair and makeup process. I knew it was going to be a jam-packed but fun day of shooting all kinds of content!

On the day of the session, things got off to a productive start! Natalie Olson was our hair and makeup artist for the day, and she created a beautiful neutral eye look on my model! Natalie also added a stunning warm-toned lip color that matched perfectly with my model's hair color. While this process was going on, we captured behind-the-scenes photos of Natalie, my model, and the dressing room itself.

Then, it was time for my model to pose in my studio sets! Sara was also positioned right behind us and ready to capture me hard at work. For the More Than a Mom photos, my model stepped in front of a dark blue backdrop which made her eyes really pop. We tried out a lot of empowering poses that included hands on the hips or crossed arms. The goal of these photos was to tell my model's story and highlight her inner strength... which I can definitely say we accomplished!

We also shot in the piano and bathtub sets, and these final photos look more like the typical boudoir photos you've seen from me! While shooting in the piano set, it was fun to play around with the blue satin sheets and create all kinds of movement. We had even more fun when moving to the bathtub set and using real bubbles! Sara did a wonderful job of capturing this fun on camera, and she also caught me demonstrating a couple different poses during this part of the shoot.

Thank you SO much to Natalie, Sara, and my model for making this day a success! Not only did I capture more boudoir photos and More Than a Mom shots... I also have tons of new photos that I can use to show new clients what the hair, makeup, and photography process looks like!
