I get requests all the time for location suggestions for photos. I definitely have some beautiful places where I love to photograph my clients, but you don’t need a gorgeous park, open field, or other amazing venue to get beautiful images. I’ve done sessions on street corners, parking garages, next to porta-potties, and in moving box filled houses… you don’t need perfection, you just need you and a photographer with a creative eye!
Read MoreIn celebration of my 10 years wedding anniversary, I asked people to submit their own proposal stories. I loved reading through these, and hope you all do, too!
Read MoreAfter hanging out in the master bedroom, we moved across the hall to Elliot’s nursery. As you can tell by the decor, this family has an affinity for a certain film enterprise… With this beautiful Star Wars nursery, I’m actually a little surprised that they didn’t name their little one Leia! I’m looking forward to seeing their Halloween costumes over the years… =)
Read MoreLike several others, these parents-to-be booked me MONTHS ago for their maternity and newborn photos. Mama wanted a more casual, laid-back, intimate home session and then stuff happened. And things closed. And sessions needed to be postponed… for who knew how long?
Obviously, maternity photos for this couple was on a BIT of a deadline. So, we postponed their April session for a later date and crossed our fingers HARD that we’d be able to make it happen before little Elliot decided to make her debut.
Read MoreThings have gotten a little different recently with photography requirements in the age of COVID. The biggest two changes are that your photographer is required to be masked and to remain at least six feet away from you and your family. I stand behind these precautions 120%, but they do create some challenges. Wearing a mask means that your children (and pets!) can’t see my smile. This one is TOUGH for me from a heartstrings perspective. I want your little ones to feel comfortable with me as soon as possible, so my challenge to myself is to up my game verbally. Apologizes in advance if I’m a little “extra” at your session due to this. Make sure to have your morning coffee before you arrive. ;)
Read MoreI walked away from Brittney’s studio thinking about how I had doubted myself, how good I felt, and how I couldn’t wait to see how everything turned out. When I sat down with Brittney to look at all the pictures I wanted to cry. I looked BEAUTIFUL. All of the things I had worried about showing up in the pictures I didn’t even see. My body looked strong, I looked fierce. Every picture I saw made me appreciate myself more. I wanted to cry looking at them, why couldn’t I just trust myself? This was an experience I will never forget and something I will always look back on (especially when I’m doubting myself).
Read MoreI’ve said this SO MANY TIMES before, but having boudoir photos taken is such an AMAZING experience! And something that I think every woman should do! Here are just a few of the “Why’s” for you to consider…
Read MoreAs I was sitting on my couch reading, I came across this passage… and it hit me… hard. I HAD to stop and document it. And then immediately posted it on my social media because it was just… so much… “Yes”.
Read MoreI feel like you all are going to learn a LOT about me while we’re all quarantined. lol Without new sessions and material to share, and I’m going back to my list of “oh I should I write about that someday!” blog post ideas. ;) One of which is how I got started in photography…
Read MoreWith everything being shut down (as of my writing this on April 21st), and not being able to photograph actual clients in my studio right now, I decided to try to use my built up creative energy to do some self portraits and play around with different poses… well, I’ll tell you, it was a lot more work than I thought it would be! lol BUT out of all of the images that I took (and there were MANY!) I did end up with some that I am quite proud of!
Read MoreEven though I wasn’t there, I still KNOW that the day was magical and emotional. I know that there were tears, big ol’ smiles, and lots of hugs. I know that there was hand holding and gentle touches. I know that Dad kissed Mom, and Mom had a brave smile on her face. I know that Dad stood back in awe as he watched his partner bring his child into the world. I know that he was feeling so many emotions as he met the small, helpless little person that his wife had been nurturing, protecting, and physically experiencing (mostly alone) for the last 9 months.
Read MoreAs a “non-essential” business, I can work “remotely”… and what’s more “remote” than photographing you via webcam?? Not only is this a fun experience for both of us, but it’s an iconic way to document what life in 2020 was like for us.
Read MoreToday, my daughter turns 8 years old.
I really have no idea how that happened. I look at photos from her three, four, five years ago and I can REMEMBER that day. I can remember the conversations and the funny things that she said. I can’t quite believe that it didn’t happen yesterday.
Read MoreI used to think that doing boudoir photos always seemed like you would be doing it for someone else to give the pictures to, I couldn’t have been more wrong. It was really empowering and the biggest take away I think from the entire experience was to feel seen. That might sound weird but being a wife, mother, employee, boss and friend is overwhelming at times like I am something for someone all the time and that someone is never myself.
Read MoreI mentioned a couple of posts before that I attended the Click Away photography conference in Atlanta before shit hit the fan. I want to take a minute to tell you all about the conference! I came home with so many great ideas and inspiration… and new contacts in the industry! It was definitely just the thing that I needed before coming home to quarantine.
Read MoreI’m writing this post on March 24th, 2020. This is day #7 of unwanted, unintended, forced upon me, homeschool. This is also roughly day #11 of “social distancing” and just being around my immediate family 24/7. And, day #1 of “stay home, stay safe” aka “shelter in place” aka “stay the f- home”.
Read MoreOne of my biggest regrets around the births of my two kids is that I don’t have more photos. I was so doped up on medications, and SOO exhausted, that I barely remember anything about what happened those days.
Read MoreThe answer to this is yes… and no… or, rather, maybe. Let me explain.
Read MoreRemember the days of Myspace and wasting hours of your life filling out silly little quizzes and questionnaires about your life and preference? Or am I totally aging myself right now? =) Well, either way, I saw this little going around the interwebs and thought it would be the perfect Valentine’s post and provide a little “get to know your wedding photographer” information, too!
