When it comes to outdoor weddings, especially in the Pacific Northwest, we all cross our fingers and hope that all signs of rainy weather hold off on the special day…

At Samantha and Jonathan’s wedding, that’s exactly what happened! After a week of not-so-great weather, we were all crossing our fingers and hoping for a beautiful April day. Thankfully, the sun was shining when everyone arrived at the Columbia Gorge Hotel to get ready that morning!

I always want to make sure that you know what to expect during your experience, so I love to share tips, tricks, and behind-the-scenes looks at everything that goes on at my studio.

It’s not super often that I talk about what to expect during your second session, though…

When it comes to clients that I’ve known for many years, there’s truly nothing more rewarding than being able to be there for them during their big life events… That’s one of the reasons why I absolutely loved being able to capture Alexis and Karl’s wedding!

I’ve known them for years and have been so honored to work with them for their engagement session, their child’s birth, and his first birthday, too. It has been so special to show up for them during these moments, so it meant the world that I could also help capture their big day!

In today’s day and age, social media plays such a big part when it comes to my boudoir photography… I always LOVE connecting with women in the Vancouver area, and I’m so proud of the community that we’ve built together within my Facebook group.

Many of our members join the group without knowing a whole ton about what the experience is like, but they quickly see other members sharing photos from their sessions… And the rest is history! It’s always so fun to see a new member join the group, learn more, and then fall in love with boudoir after booking a session. This is exactly what happened when my client booked a session!

Today, we’ll be going behind the scenes and talking a bit more about what it’s like to try out a new type of boudoir session and also have a model shoot. In my blog posts, I do like to share quite a bit about the different types of special sets and sessions that I offer. (Think my shower sets or masquerade sessions!)

Now, it’s time to talk even more about the thought process that goes into creating those types of experiences…

When you take a look at the boudoir photos that are posted on my website, have you ever wondered more about the women who are featured in the shots? My photos often display women looking so confident and empowered while embracing their bodies!

Here’s the truth! Before shooting, many women have some jitters or nerves because it’s a brand new, first time experience! Those feelings are 100% normal. Keeping this in mind, I’m here to encourage you and reassure you… If the idea of stepping in front of the camera for a boudoir shoot is nerve-racking, but you otherwise would LOVE to book a session, I totally encourage you to do it!

Back in February, I found out that I was chosen by an awesome local radio station (99.5 The Wolf) to be featured by their morning show. The Wolf’s morning show (Nick & Kristen in the Morning) is such an entertaining radio show that’s also super unique! They have a segment called the Name Campaign that features a different small business each month!

Now you can probably see where this is going… Nick and Kristen decided to bring their Name Campaign to Brittney Corey Photography!

This year for my birthday, I walked away with such a special memory… I photographed a wedding for Pat and Ann!

You heard that right! I spent the day celebrating this amazing couple and helped them capture their love, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! For the wedding, we spent most of the gorgeous September day outside in their friend’s backyard in Clackamas, Oregon, and it was the PERFECT day for a celebration.

Even though I love to step outside of the box with my clients to create a specific theme or setting for their boudoir session, I haven’t forgotten about the beauty of a classic boudoir shoot! There’s something SO special about a traditional photography session that takes us back to basics and features a simple backdrop and classic lingerie.

This is why I was so excited to see that my client booked a boudoir session and just requested white cotton sheets!

We know that boudoir photography sessions are AMAZING for boosting our confidence, but there are so many other benefits and reasons for having boudoir photos taken… The final pictures that come from your session are truly pieces of art, and they’re all yours to either display or hang if you choose!

Looking for another reason to have boudoir photos taken? The photos can be given to our partners, and they’re guaranteed to be OBSESSED with what they see… It’s a promise! Plus, whenever your partner is away, they’ll also have an amazing reminder of who they’re missing. They’ll be so eager to get right back to you!

It’s SO true that the simplest things have the power to connect us. In the case of my clients, you can bond over beer! Yep, you heard me right… Beer!

When Samantha and Jon had their first date, it was over beers… and the rest is history! They continued to grow their relationship and made a point of visiting breweries together along the way. A shared interest between them ended up becoming a way to grow closer together, and look where they are now!

When it comes to masquerade photography sessions, my clients and I definitely aren’t strangers! I’ve LOVED shooting these themed sessions in the past, and I’ve even offered seasonal masquerade specials.

Even though I’ve used a masquerade theme in my photography sessions before, this time, I planned to host a model session! I had a specific vision for this shoot and was SO excited to bring it to life. I was hoping for most of the session to be in my boudoir studio and to also include many “traditional” boudoir elements… Think my living room and bedroom sets along with classic lingerie and heels! Then, we’d add in a mask to amp up the look and create a sensual and modern masquerade theme.

If you’ve seen some of my boudoir photography before, I’m betting you’ve noticed that boudoir sessions can come in all different types of styles, environments, shapes, and sizes.

We’ve had outdoor sessions, shower sets, kitchen backdrops, and milk baths! Even if you’re dreaming of a different type of set that I’ve never used, I’m always up for chatting about your ideas and finding creative ways to bring them to life!

What if we take this idea a bit farther, though? Boudoir sessions allow us to not only create settings that match your wildest dreams… If it’s up your alley, you can also create characters for your photography session that we can bring to life!

When was the last time you decided to really change up your appearance?

Personally… I know it has been awhile for me, but there definitely have been times when I have the urge to try out a new haircut, update my personal style, and even get a new tattoo. Even if we’re totally confident with our current look, sometimes it’s just fun to update our appearance! Whether we end up going with a small change or a huge makeover, these changes can definitely give us a boost of confidence, too.

Making updates like these can also inspire us to want to capture our new look. A photoshoot is perfect for doing this! You’ll be able to have photos that capture your updates AND your confidence…

When was the last time that you did something truly spontaneous?

I know that it can be scary to embrace new opportunities that come up in our lives because we never know what the outcome might be. If you’ve ever found yourself being tempted to try something different and shake up the status quo, just know that I’m right behind you as your cheerleader. Here’s proof that being spontaneous, trying something new, and turning it up a notch will pay off…

I always LOVE meeting new clients. There’s something so special about the opportunity to connect with someone new, work with them to create memories, and help them preserve those memories. When clients return, it’s an incredible experience, too.

Whether a client has worked with me once, twice, or a million times, I’ll always jump at the chance to grow with my clients and continue working with them whenever an opportunity presents itself. My client is a perfect example of this…

When it comes to long distance relationships, it’s SO important to find ways to connect with your partner while you’re physically apart. Sometimes this can take a good amount of creativity!

When you’re face-to-face with your partner or spouse, being intimate and working on your physical connection will come more naturally… But what happens when you’re trying to build intimacy from hundreds of miles away? Sharing photos is a fan favorite for some, but what if we stepped up the game and took boudoir photos to share instead?
