Five years ago I had the pleasure of capturing some engagement photos for Brandon and Alison on Mt. Tabor in Portland, Oregon. After five years, it was great to get together with them again! Alison’s mother is a friend of the family, and asked if I’d take some updated photos of her (almost all) adult kids. Since the timing worked out to also be right around the couple’s five-year anniversary, they asked to do the session at Camp Arrah Wanna in Welches, Oregon… their wedding venue.

Read MoreOver the last year or so , I’ve taken several classes on studio lighting, feminine posing, boudoir photography composition techniques, etc., etc., etc… there has been some AMAZING material that has been really helpful and inspiring, but, the “problem” is, in order to learn new techniques and use them WELL, you have to be able to practice! Thankfully, I never seem to have trouble finding women to allow me use them for practice… which is why I love doing boudoir model calls so much! It gives women an opportunity to experience boudoir photography, get a few complimentary photos, and allows me to play around, try new things, and not worry (too much) about the final product.
Read MoreI honestly don’t know why it’s taken me so long to get around to blogging this wedding! These two are celebrating their two month anniversary today! It was an amazing day, with lots of stories, memories, and laughs! These two traveled all the way from Boise, Idaho to have the wedding of their dreams at a GORGEOUS (and gigantic!) Airbnb out in Oregon City, Oregon.
Read MoreI absolutely love documenting the look on the groom’s face when he sees his to-be-spouse coming down the aisle! But, if you think it about it, even that moment is more about the bride than the groom… grooms kind of get the short end of the stick on their wedding day, and, sometimes even in the wedding photos!
As a wedding photographer, I try to give both sides equal coverage. And I generally have a lot of fun photographing the guys! This post is all about the grooms!

Read MoreSomeone asked me recently about my wedding photography horror stories. It took me a minute to think of something to respond with. I don'‘t think I’ve had any “horror” stories in my four years of photographing weddings, but I have definitely had some misadventures! I won’t focus on the number of groomsmen and drunken wedding guests who have hit on me, or my number of equipment malfunctions (why I always carry back up gear!), but here are some of my more memorable “moments”!
Read MoreI pretty much squealed with joy a dozen times as I was photographing and working on the edits for this hybrid maternity/boudoir session!
Read MoreI saw this article a few weeks back and it gave me the idea for this post. The article is mostly geared toward people with some background in photography, but I’m going to try to touch on some tips and tricks on getting some great vacation photos of your family without using words like “DSLR” and “aperture”. ;) And, to help illustrate, enjoy some photos of my adorable kids on our vacation to Southern California this last spring. =)

Read MoreThis beautiful woman was training for her first ever MARATHON! She’s a total bad ass and was spending many of her off-work hours training, which was taking away from time with her husband. Plus, the marathon was actually happening on his birthday and she knew that she’d be in no mood/physical state to celebrate post-race, so she decided to do something a little “special” for him as a birthday gift and a “thank you” for supporting her on her training journey. So she booked a session with me, and we got to work creating a fantastic photo book for her to give him!

And to meet the doctor who was SUPPOSED to deliver her… had she not arrived just 10 minutes too early!
Read MoreMy job is to document a moment. To capture emotion. The specific emotion is irrelevant. They are all important and all worthy of memories. Most of my images show love and joy, but every now and then other emotions sneak in.

I want this for YOUR children… and your grandchildren.

And I was there to photograph his birth, and his parents pure joy and elation to finally meet him. I couldn’t have been more honored to be there to witness the whole birth experience.
